The Joy of Painting with Benjamin
Drawing with Benjamin is such a joy! He sits beside me and paints quietly. It's a delight to watch him stir his paint colors together, as he gives me an accurate lecture on how to create secondary colors, what colors to use, and how to keep the colors true in every shade. He listens so well and loves to repeat my lessons back to me. We enjoy spending time together this way, with me painting beside him while he works on whatever he wants to create.
Benjamin's Health and Growth - Beating the Odds
Ben is having a wonderful year health-wise! He's thriving and has grown quite tall, now standing at 4'7" at just nine years old. While we remain uncertain about his long-term health outlook, given that Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension is a relatively new and rare diagnosis in children, Ben has been a medical miracle since his diagnosis at just one and a half. He is the longest-surviving child ever diagnosed so young! For many children who reach adulthood with P.A.H., a heart and lung transplant often looms as a potential challenge in early adulthood. We hold onto hope that with continued medical care, Ben's heart and lungs will be protected from further damage.
Looking to the Future
Benjamin will always be able to paint, but he won't be able to compete as an athlete or even run a mile at school. There are many alternative competitions he may choose to excel in, like archery, chess, or skeet shooting. We'll just have to wait and see where his interests lead him. We hope he will continue to tolerate his medications well and remain active and stable. But not knowing what the future holds, we can only say our prayers and trust in God.
