Stacey Mayer: A Journey Through Art and Life

Early Inspirations and Beginnings

Stacey Mayer with her grandson, BenjaminStacey Mayer's artistic journey began in her childhood in Seattle, where she first expressed her creativity by drawing horses and pets on the walls of her home. Even as a young adult, her passion for equine and animal art was evident as she illustrated horse show programs and participated in events like the Fred Oldfield Western Art Shows, all while raising her first daughter, Shannon. Her talent quickly garnered attention, with her pen and ink drawing "Guardian of the Breed" being featured in Arabian Horse Registry publications.

Triumphs Amidst Challenges

At the young age of 16, a tragic family boating accident forever altered Stacey's perspective, leaving her with a well of emotions that would deeply influence her work. Life-changing events, such as her childhood spent partly in foster care and the loss of her parents and two siblings, fueled her desire to infuse energy into her art. She channeled these experiences into creating dynamic and recognizable pieces that span animal, equine, figurative, and sporting art. Her uniquely recognizable equine and wildlife art express her love of life and sense of joy in our wonderful world.

Despite these challenges, Stacey's resilience shone through. Her bronze sculpture "The Torchbearer" won Best in Show at the Daffodil Arabian Horse Association's Annual Art Show just three days after the birth of her second daughter, Cassandra. Balancing family life with her art, Stacey continued to expand her creative endeavors, even as she and her husband, Phil, welcomed more children into their lives.
